Within the framework of the drafting of the Municipality of Varese’s general zoning plan, ACADIA SIT, in a temporary consortium with Veneto Progetti, was in charge of the drafting of the general services plan (PGS).
Urban areas have various underground and overhead technological networks necessary for the provision of services indispensable to city life.
The introduction of the PGS in the city of Varese as part of the TMP is based on the computerisation of available data and their integration with management tools. The user can modify processes and implement procedures in the municipal sector by managing ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, planning the installation of new network sections, optimising services for citizens and simultaneously aiming at a reduction of related costs.
The objective that the Varese Municipality pursues with the implementation of the SGP is efficiency and transparency. Thanks to the activation of several information management functions related to water, sewage, gas, electricity, district heating ITC and technology networks, this goal has been achieved.
The cornerstones of the management system are:
The PGS is a fundamental tool for municipal technology networks and is designed to allow for the proper governance of services, extensions and maintenance. Tools based on GIS and WebGIS technologies make it possible to plan interventions, carry out work monitoring actions, and generate statistical and status reports. Integration with other municipal systems makes it possible to add a geographic dimension to the data, displaying them on a map and allowing queries and spatial relationships between datasets that were previously considered disjointed.
