ARCADIA SIT is a partner in the European consortium for the provision of services in the field of GIS and remote sensing, within the DESIS and DIGIT framework contract, the project is developed by JRC - IES - Institute for Environment and Sustainability / Land Management and Natural Hazards Unit. The projects listed below covered all EU countries and involved the development of an EU geoportal for the distribution and sharing of data, recommendations and statistical analyses.
The FLOODS project was mainly concerned with designing a database for the collection of weather and hydrological information produced in the various EU countries by defining the information to be managed and the harmonisation of the different data sources. In parallel, models for predicting and assessing flood risks were developed.
The EFAS project pursued the objective of raising flood awareness and support preparatory measures beforemajor flood events occur , particularly in large transnational river basins and across Europe in general.
