DIGITRANSCOPE PROJECT - DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND GOVERNANCE OF HUMAN SOCIETY
ARCADIA SIT is a partner in the European consortium for the provision of services in the field of GIS and remote sensing, within the DESIS and DIGIT framework contract, the project is developed by JRC - IES - Institute for Environment and Sustainability / Land Management and Natural Hazards Unit.
Digitransscope is a research project of the JRC Centre for Advanced Studies focusing on the governance of digitally transformed human societies.
The project aims to provide a deeper understanding of the key aspects of digital transformation to help policy makers address the challenges European society will face in the coming decades.
The main (initial) research topics are:
- Exploration of the changing flows, ownership, quality and implications of digitised data and information. Data are the decisive ingredient of the transformed society and the ownership, access, sharing, analysis and dissemination of data (e.g. in social, economic and political contexts) will interact in uncertain ways as they have done so far
- Identifying the main policy challenges related to massive interconnection (IOT) and the associated opportunities and risks
- Determining what skills are needed to live a fulfilling and healthy life in a digitally transformed society and explore how to offer all citizens the opportunity to develop these skills
- Exploring innovative forms of governance for Europe by exploiting the characteristics of digital transformation.
